Course Details

The ELC provides high-quality General English (GE) language courses for international students. The ELC has been specifically tailored to equip students with the necessary level of English skills to meet any English language admission requirements for further academic study. It is also suitable for those wanting to build their language skills or experience Australian culture whilst visiting on a short-term basis. The students who enrol at the Academy’s ELC to study English will have access to a level of support, not often experienced at other providers. The ELC uses a holistic approach to learning, which includes the use of bilingual teachers and tutors in the classroom. This allows students to gain access to personalized assistance. Contrary to many other providers, we use the student’s target language to facilitate comprehension and learning, especially for the lower levels. The ELC also provides other forms of support, such as: counselling, homework support and after-hours tutoring. We have proven experience regarding student support and are well-known for our dedication to student welfare. The ELC also aims to enhance students’ ability to analyse and engage in critical thinking within an English environment. This dual focus not only provides a platform for academic uses of English, but also for practical application of English for a variety of contexts. We also offer flexible course durations, which reflects our commitment to student support and well-being. From 10 weeks per year to 40 weeks per year, with a rolling intake, students can be assured that they will have the opportunity to learn English at the ELC. The ELC also offers 4 levels of English: Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate, which ensures that there is a level to meet the goals of every student. If students are unsure of their English level, the ELC offers not only a placement test, but also a one-to-one session with a course counsellor who can advise students which level is most suitable, according to their academic and career goals. Course Duration / Delivery Method This program includes orientation, public and term break holidays. Set assessment tasks may sometimes need to be completed outside of class times. Trainers will provide any additional learning materials where gaps are identified in either a participant's underpinning knowledge or the training resources. All students must attend a minimum of 20 class contact hours per week. International Student Entry Requirements Language, literacy and numeracy test required as condition of enrolment
