Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?
I'm from India, and I completed a Master of Information Technology from Flinders University.
My degree blended theory with hands-on delivery. I learned to scope problems clearly, iterate fast, and communicate value. These are skills I use every day in the local government, delivering practical digital and AI outcomes for the community.
I chose Flinders University because of its industry-linked approach and the innovation culture around the Tonsley precinct. The combination of practical, project-based learning and access to mentors from industry gave me confidence that I’d graduate job-ready.
I also appreciated the smaller class sizes, supportive teaching staff, and the emphasis on real projects over theoretical learning.
What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?
I wanted a world-class education without the chaos of a mega-city. Adelaide’s lifestyle, affordable cost of living, and the way industry, universities, and government collaborate made it an easy choice.
I also loved that Adelaide has a strong tech community that feels welcoming and is close-knit, which is perfect for an international student building a career and network in IT. Adelaide tech community is big enough to offer opportunities, but small enough that your contributions are noticed.
What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide?
Adelaide is a safe, friendly city where your time and budget go further. My favourite things to do in Adelaide are:
- Watch the sunset at Brighton Beach
- Hike the Waterfall Gully–Mt Lofty trail
- Walk up Brown Hill
- Night-sky watching at Mount Osmond lookout
- Late-night ice cream at Windy Point
- Taking a dip at Semaphore or Moana Beach
