Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?

I'm from Malaysia, and I studied a Bachelor of Applied Finance and a Master of Marketing at the University of South Australia, which in 2026 will combine with The University of Adelaide to become Adelaide University.

What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?

I was studying a Bachelor of Applied Finance at Taylor’s University in Malaysia, which had a 2+1 program linked to the University of South Australia. I initially planned to complete my final year in Adelaide and return to Malaysia to start my career, but during that year, I really started to enjoy the lifestyle here and developed a strong interest in marketing. That led me to continue my studies with a Master of Marketing at UniSA.

Unlike bigger cities with lots of distractions, Adelaide is the perfect environment to focus on study while still enjoying a great social life. Everything is nearby and accessible, which is a huge plus for students without a car, and it's a fantastic place to work or start a business. Light traffic means better work-life balance, and if your career involves travel or on-the-go work like mine, you’ll find you get a lot more done in a day.

What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide?

Wineries and food, hands down! After travelling across Australia, I believe Adelaide has the best food and wine, all within a short drive. I used to play soccer and badminton, but these days most of my time is dedicated to Foodee.
